Gritty Detroit rock from Bob Seger’s early years — raw, soulful, and packed with attitude.
Bob Seger System – Mongrel
Format: Vinyl
Label: Capitol Records
Year: 1970
Released in 1970, Mongrel captures the Bob Seger System at full Detroit rock power — blending heavy grooves, raspy vocals, and a raw, streetwise energy that defined Seger’s early sound. The album moves between driving rockers, soulful moments, and gritty blues influences, showcasing the intensity that would later make Seger a household name.
Featuring fan favourites like “Lucifer,” “Evil Edna,” and “Song to Rufus,” this is one of the strongest and most underrated records from Seger’s pre–Silver Bullet Band era.
Notes: Originally issued on Capitol Records with classic early-70s psychedelic/hard rock artwork.
A great addition for collectors of classic rock, Detroit rock history, and early Bob Seger essentials.
