Released in 2018, Play is Dave Grohl’s ambitious solo project — a single, continuous 23-minute instrumental track, performed entirely by Grohl himself on every instrument. The piece moves through shifting tempos, melodic builds, heavy riffs, and atmospheric passages, highlighting Grohl’s versatility far beyond his work with Foo Fighters, Nirvana, and Them Crooked Vultures.
Created as both a musical statement and an ode to the dedication required to master an instrument, Play stands as one of Grohl’s most personal and creatively free works.
