Captain Denim – Fade (1992)
Discover a hidden gem of the Australian indie scene. Captain Denim was the short-lived but beloved folk-rock project formed by members of the legendary Sydney band The Plunderers (Nic Dalton and Stevie Plunder). Recorded at Troy Horse Studios, the Fade EP captures a more laid-back, melodic side of their songwriting, heavily influenced by the likes of Buffalo Springfield and classic 60s country-rock.
This 10" release is famous for its unique DIY packaging: every original cover featured a denim star hand-glued to the front (reportedly by students from North Sydney Girls' High School). Musically, it’s a brilliant collection of jangly guitars and soulful harmonies that remains a cherished piece of Waterfront Records-era history.
