Yes – 90125 (Vinyl Focus)

The "Deep Dive" Details:

  • The Name Origin: The album is famously titled after its own original Atco catalog number (90125). This makes it a "self-referential" classic. However, in different territories, the catalog number changed (e.g., in Australia, it was 790125-1), but the title stayed the same, creating a unique quirk for collectors.

  • The Australian "Sample" Pressing: If you have an Australian vinyl copy, look for the 790125-1 catalog number. Rare promo copies feature a gold "Post-Production" stamp on the back cover or a "Sample Record" sticker on the label. These were pressed using high-quality Virgin Vinyl at the WEA Sydney plant.

  • Mastering "RL" (Robert Ludwig): For vinyl hunters, the "Holy Grail" version is the one with RL etched into the runout groove. This indicates it was mastered by Robert Ludwig at Masterdisk. His cut is legendary for its massive dynamic range, specifically making the snare hit on "Owner of a Lonely Heart" sound like a cannon blast.

  • The "Grey" vs. "Color" Labels: Original US/Australian pressings feature the grey/silver Atco label. Some later club editions or European reissues used a standard yellow/blue Atco label. The grey "modern" label is the period-correct first press look.

  • Inner Sleeve: The original first press includes a custom inner sleeve with lyrics and tech-style graphics. If this is missing or replaced with a generic white sleeve, the collector value drops by about 30%.
