Primal Scream – Loaded / Come Together (7" Vinyl)

Artist: Primal Scream

Title: Loaded / Come Together

Format: 7" Vinyl Single

Original Release: 1990/1991

Label: Creation Records (UK) / Virgin-Shock (AUS) / Sire (US)

The "Deep Dive" Details:

  • The Australian "Double A-Side" Rarity (1991): If you are in Australia, you likely have the Virgin/Shock pressing (Catalog: VOZ 107). Unlike the UK, which released these as two separate singles, Australia (and the US) often paired them together.

    • Check the Matrix: Look for MX308103 VOZ107 MK1 in the runout. This version is highly sought after by UK collectors because of the unique "Loaded" / "Come Together" pairing on a single 7-inch.

  • The "Porky Prime Cut": On original UK pressings of Come Together (CRE 078), look for the hand-etched text "A PORKY PRIME CUT" in the runout groove. This indicates it was mastered by the legendary George Peckham. Vinyl with his signature is prized for its superior "loud" and bass-heavy cut, essential for dance-rock.

  • The "Loaded" Origin Rarity: The B-side to the Loaded 7" (CRE 070) is "I'm Losing More Than I'll Ever Have." This is the original ballad that Andrew Weatherall stripped down and remixed to create "Loaded." Owning the 7" is the classic way to hear the "Before and After" of one of the most famous remixes in history.

  • The Weatherall vs. Farley Mixes: * The 7" version of "Come Together" is usually the Terry Farley 7" Mix (more gospel-pop).

    • The Andrew Weatherall 7" Mix is much rarer on vinyl and is often found on the "Weatherall" promo versions. If your label says "Weatherall Mix" but it's a 7-inch, you have a significantly more valuable copy.

  • The "I'm Losing More..." 1990 Mispress: There is a known UK 7" mispress where the labels are swapped, or the B-side plays a different version of "Ramblin' Rose" than what is listed. These small errors are massive value-adders for Primal Scream completionists.
