Pink Floyd – Ummagumma
Format: Vinyl (2LP)
Label: Harvest Records
Year: 1969
Released in 1969, Ummagumma is one of Pink Floyd’s most unique and ambitious releases — a double-LP split between explosive live performances and bold experimental studio pieces. The live LP captures the band’s early intensity with extended, atmospheric versions of their late-60s material, while the studio LP presents individual compositions from each band member, pushing the boundaries of psychedelia and avant-rock.
The live album includes powerful versions of “Astronomy Domine,” “Careful With That Axe, Eugene,” “Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun,” and “A Saucerful of Secrets.”
The studio record features some of the band’s most creative early explorations, laying groundwork for their later progressive sound.
Notes: Originally released as a 2LP set on Harvest Records; iconic cover photographed outside the home of Abbey Road designer Hipgnosis.
An essential piece for Pink Floyd collectors and fans of late-60s psychedelia and experimental rock.
